Committee Structure - Reporting to the Bernicia Board

 

The Bernicia Group sets out to achieve the highest standards of governance, accountability and probity.  To help us achieve this we have adopted the National Housing Federation ‘Excellence in Governance – Code for members and good practice guidance’ 2010.

We are governed by a Group Board (Bernicia Board) which is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the organisation and monitoring performance of the Group. 

The Bernicia Board is supported by four committees: Audit Committee, Finance Committee, Remuneration, Review and Appeals Committee & Corporate Development Committee.

In addition, the Group also has two subsidiary boards, one for Wansbeck Homes, and one for Cheviot Homes.  These boards are responsible for setting and monitoring the operations of Cheviot Homes and Wansbeck Homes. 

These boards are supported by an Operations Committee which scrutinise the operational performance of both subsidiaries and our service specific directorates, Housing Services and Care & Support.  The committee is supported by two working groups, one for each directorate.

This diagram shows how the boards and committees fit together, and who sits on each of the boards.  Each board consists of nine members and, like each committee has its own terms of reference, Chair and Deputy-Chair.
