Noisy neighbour evicted

Monday, December 12, 2011

Noisy late night parties, arguing and fighting in the street has cost a Northumberland man his home.

Michael Craig Scott, 31, of Sheepwash Bank, Guide Post was taken to court by his landlord, Bernicia, after repeated complaints from his neighbours.

A hearing at Morpeth County Court resulted in the housing company being granted possession of the property and Scott was ordered to move out immediately.

The Bernicia Enforcement Unit worked closely with residents and the Neighbourhood Policing Team at Bedlington Police Station to gather evidence to support the possession.

The action was taken after repeated warnings failed to bring about improved behaviour and more consideration for neighbours by Scott.  Hazel Wright, Housing Officer, Enforcement, said “At first people were reluctant to come forward, due to fear of reprisals but eventually, with the support of Bernicia and the police, they decided to work with us and give evidence.

“We will not tolerate anti-social behaviour and will continue to take action against people who are a neighbourhood nuisance.”

Anyone wishing to report tenants of Bernicia who behave in an anti-social manner are encouraged to telephone 0844 800 3800 or email enquiries@bernicia.com
